Holly Village is a small private development of 12 houses, arranged around a communal garden built in 1865 by Baroness Burdett-Coutts, a remarkable but little known Victorian philanthropist. Built in the nostalgic cottage orne style with a mid-Victorian twist of Gothic Revival, they were designed by the architect, Henry Darbishire (better know for his work on visionary social housing schemes for George Peabody).
The twelve houses include two detached houses with timber-framed towers, topped with Gothic spires and a general standard of Victorian workmanship and materials of the highest quality. The houses feature elaborate hardwood ogee-shaped porches and several styles of heavily carved wooden eaves.
