Buildmark is the name of a 10 year warranty and insurance cover for newly-built or newly-converted private homes that is provided by the NHBC (previously the National Housebuilding Council). The NHBC is the UK’s leading independent standard-setting body and provider of warranty and insurance for new and newly converted homes.

Their purpose is to work with the house-building industry to raise the standards of new homes and to provide protection for homebuyers in the form of Buildmark warranty and insurance.

The NHBC is completely independent of Government and house builders, and in control of its governance. NHBC was approved as an insurance company by the Department of Trade. In NHBC was a founder member of The Consumer Code for Home Builders which gives added protection and rights to the buyers of brand new homes.
