Often described as modern day 'sky castles' the 'Lighthouse' (Chimni Typology 8.1.5) has to be one of the least common of the home types in the Chimni Home Typology.

Notable Lighthouse Homes

  The Lighthouse at Winterton-on-Sea, Norfolk converted as a home by architect Sally Mackereth.

• 

  Wicklow Head Lighthouse in County Wicklow, Ireland converted to a home and available as a holiday let..

• 

  East Bank Lighthouse, known locally as the home of naturalist Sir Peter Scott at Sutton Bridge, Lincolnshire. One of a pair built in 1831 by John Rennie (of Waterloo Bridge fame) to mark the mouth of the river Nene, which is hard to navigate into at high tide or at night.

  Dungeness Lighthouse-keepers house. Originally the base of the third Dungeness lighthouse, it was replaced by a new lighthouse in 1790 and the tower on top removed.

  Hoylake High Lighthouse is located on the Wirral Peninsula, near Liverpool. It is the remaining one of a pair of lighthouses built in 1764 to guide ships into Liverpool Harbour. Decommissioned in 1886 and became a private home in 1909
