James Nash

James Nash is best known as the creator of the great Regency terraces of houses around the edges of Regent's Park in London. Like many of the great house builders featured by Tumbla, Nash's influence and built works extend far beyond house building. His works include the layout and surrounding buildings of Trafalgar Square, the main building of Buckingham Palace ( but not its later classical facade) along with garden layouts for Regent's And St James Park.

However, for us it is his creation of the white stucco villa terraces, as seen around Regent's Park and Carlton Terrace in London, that marks his influence. It was a style that was to be copied around London and other towns and cities like Brighton, where it was taken up by house builders like Thomas Cubitt.
